Admission

Aldar Academies Admission Policy require children to be a minimum age of 3 years of age for FS1 and 4 years of age for FS2 by the 1st September. This applies to new applications only. Aldar Academies is regulated by ADEK and we are required to operate in line with ADEK (Abu Dhabi Education Council) regulations.

For new students that have never attended school in Abu Dhabi the entry age requirements for 2018-19 are as follows;

Year curriculum

  • FS1 1st September 2014 to 31st August 2015 (3 years of age on or before the 31st August 2018)
  • FS2 1st September 2013 to 31st August 2014 (4 years of age on or before the 31st August 2018)

Applications from within the UAE from students currently registered in a school.
Children transferring between schools within the UAE are considered in Year groups and must have completed the previous academic year to be permitted to move into the next Year group.

Year and curriculums are followed successively i.e. If your child is currently in Year 5 you must apply for Year 6 for 2018-19. However, if you are moving between curriculums the following applies; If your child is currently in Grade 5 you must apply for Year 7 ( the equivalent of Grade 6) for 2018-19. If your child is currently in Year 5 you must apply for Grade 5 ( the equivalent of Year 6) for 2018-19.

Applications from outside of the UAE coming from the English National Curriculum
Children transferring to our English Curriculum schools, from outside of the UAE (example the UK) and from the English National Curriculum, are considered in year groups on a ‘like to like’ basis. Your child must complete the previous year to be permitted by ADEK to move into the next year group. For example, if your child is currently in Year 5, you must apply for Year 6 for September.

Application from outside of the UAE coming from other Curriculums
Children transferring to our English Curriculum schools, from outside of the UAE (for example the USA) and from a curriculum other than the English National Curriculum, must complete 12 years of schooling to graduate and be age appropriate for the year group you are applying to. Year group equivalency for children transferring from outside the UAE is subject to ADEK pre-approval in certain circumstances in accordance with your child’s level of education or subject choices available for IGCSEs / GCSEs / A Levels / IBDP. Where an offer of a place is made in a school year which is below the age-appropriate year and is accepted by the parent, the parent is required to sign an undertaking confirming they are fully aware of this and that they accept the place offered.
